Uploading WMV To YouTube

It’s not clearly documented on the YouTube site but you can upload WMV files to Youtube.

Here is a quote from the Youtube website:

What video file formats can I upload?
YouTube accepts video files from most digital cameras and camcorders, and cell phones in the .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG file formats.

I found that the best setting in Windows Movie maker to create WMV files for Youtube is 320X240 at 512 Kbps.

  • ADD TO DEL.ICIO.US
  • ADD TO DIGG
  • ADD TO STUMBLEUPON
  • ADD TO TECHNORATI FAVORITES

I uploaded .wma files all the time and there was never a problem
-> now youtube won’t accept it.
I recomment downloading “quick media converter”
    (link: http://quick-media-converter.softonic.de/)
it’s for free and you can convert your files into nearly all formats (.mpeg, .avi, only audio,…)
    it’s quite pracital, I like it =)
(but sometimes the program takes like seven minutes for a simple lyrics-video, which is a real pain)

YouTube doesn’t accept my WMV. Why doesn’t it accept that? Everybody uses Windows Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker, by default saves projects as .MSWMM files. .MSWMM files are project files (which means the file only contains the layout of your video and does not contain the final video itself). YouTube does not accept .MSWMM files. To upload your Windows Movie Maker video to YouTube, select the “Save to My Computer” option to save the file to an accepted format. You can then upload the generated file to YouTube.
