Ever since DTV and HD came about, there is a new zone that has emerged. I call it an upcoding safe zone. Maybe it could also be called an HD safe zone. It mainly occurs with people using the set top digital converter boxes. A program in high definition will not display correctly at the resolution the box can support for a standard NTSC screen. My set top box has a setting to correct this error. But one of the local programs made fun of it a few months ago. The program hosts finished the program all squished together in the middle of the set. Then they said, "This is for people with set top boxes who normally don't see us all due to upcoding."
